“Bad Buncha Boys” Sing Barbershop

Twice the manpower and three times the sound, the Golden Cascade Chorus under the direction of Al Downey (kneeling) will perform its first combined annual show “Bad Bunch Of Boys” on April 27 at Fairview High School. The Elyria Northern Cascade Chordsmen and Lorain Golden Crescent Chorus merged in March of this year.

After 73 years of a cappella experience, two of the area’s most renowned barbershop groups, the Elyria Northern Cascade Chordsmen and Lorain Golden Crescent Chorus, have merged into the Golden Cascade Chorus.

Twice the manpower and three times the sound, the forty man chorus will perform its first combined annual show Saturday, April 27 at Fairview High School. The venue features music made famous by artists in the 50’s and 60’s: Neil Diamond’s “Sweet Caroline,” The Beach Boys “409,” Ricky Nelson’s “Hello Mary Lou,” Martin’s and Sinatra’s “I Don’t Know Why,” and more. Guest quartets are “PinnaCLE” and “The Playhouse Square Quartet”, plus a Parade of Chapter Quartets. Curtain time is 7:30 p.m. Ample free school parking. Meet the quartets later, with more music and light refreshments, at the on-site, post-show “Afterglow.“

General admission tickets are $15, group rate of 15 or more $12, and students $5. Afterglow tickets are only $5. Proceeds from the show will help local area youth to participate in the Ohio Harmony Xperience. Since 2007, the Lorain Chapter sponsored 347 boys and girls for the 3-day harmony camp.
