LCCC Provides New Pathways to Advanced Manufacturing Careers Through Ohio Work Ready Funding

The future of manufacturing is being built today, and Lorain County Community College is preparing the skilled technicians who will power the next generation of industry. Through Ohio Work Ready Programs, qualified students may receive up to $6,000 of state-funded support through Ohio Work Ready Grant Programs, creating a more affordable pathway to degrees that lead directly to some of the region’s most in-demand jobs.

Ohio ranks third in the nation for manufacturing employment, and LCCC works closely with Northeast Ohio employers who are seeking skilled workers to advance the region’s long history of innovation and industrial excellence. Technicians play a critical role in modern manufacturing, supporting automation, electronics, microelectronics, machining and advanced production systems.

“Manufacturing has always been a cornerstone of Northeast Ohio’s economy, and today’s industry requires a new generation of highly skilled technicians,” said LCCC President Marcia J. Ballinger, Ph.D. “Through these programs, LCCC is connecting students with opportunities that lead to good jobs with strong earning potential while helping employers build the workforce they need for the future.”

The following LCCC associate degree programs are eligible for Ohio Work Ready funding:

  • Associate of Applied Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology – Computer Aided Machining (CAM) / Mechanical Design
  • Associate of Applied Science in Multicraft Industrial Maintenance Technician
  • Associate of Applied Science in Electronic Engineering Technology – Applied Electronics
  • Associate of Applied Science in Manufacturing Engineering Technology – Microelectronic Manufacturing
  • Associate of Applied Science in Automation Engineering Technology – Systems Specialist

Designed with input from industry partners, these programs provide hands-on learning and technical skills aligned with Ohio’s high-demand careers. Students gain experience with the tools, technologies and processes used by modern employers, preparing them to enter the workforce or advance in their current careers.
