Say hello to Dana Lakins, Greater Cleveland’s First Lady of automobile service.
As Lincoln Specialist at Nick Mayer Lincoln in Westlake, Dana is a uniquely qualified part of the Nick Mayer family of service pros and Quick Lane resources.
“We are blessed to have her here with just a ton of Lincoln experience and capability,” says Nick Nunnari, Nick Mayer Lincoln Service Manager. “It is phenomenal in the automobile service field to have a lady who knows her cars and knows the business.”
With over 20 years experience as a dealership service manager, Dana did not come up the easy way. In a field dominated by men, she mastered specialty knowledge in every area of mechanics and car repair to earn her credentials.
“My approach to a customer might be a little different as a woman. Not better than a man. But different,” says Dana. “Coming up, I had to make sure every training situation for certification was perfect. Now, as Lincoln Specialist, I am able to help the customer understand everything. I really had to push and take all the technical classes in order to earn my qualifications.”
Her most recent affiliation was a seven-year career as Service Manager at the now-Nick Mayer’s Marshall Ford Lincoln in Mayfield Hts. She came up through service roles at Liberty Ford and Mullinax Ford, each time adding credentials.
She credits her parents for her mechanical aptitude. Her mom, Diane Vargo, is a retired Lubrizol Corp. chemist. Her dad, Frank Ortolani, is a professional programmer and an expert in Corvettes. Dana also followed her mom’s lead by graduating from Notre Dame College in Willoughby. As a child, Dana spent time at her uncle’s service station. It is a family that honors tradition.
These traditions make her a great fit at Nick Mayer Lincoln, a family owned business established in Westlake 38 years ago.
Dana teams with Service Director Pat Jordan, Service Manager Nick Nunnari and Service Advisor Don Sherry at Nick Mayer to combine for over 100 years of service experience.
“We want our service here to be an experience that is all about the customer,” says Dana. “We offer hassle-free, expert service. I always like to educate my customers on the work we perform. The more a customer can understand their vehicle, the happier they are. Especially with all the electronics today.”
