“Draino” Bombs Found in Bay Village

bay police logo 130121011959_bay-village-police-300x168Bay Village Police report they found “Draino” bombs on a walking path off Bradley Road. On May 11, at 0119 hrs, Bay Village police officers responded to the walking path that connects Bradley Road with Appleblossom on the report of fireworks being discharged.  Upon arrival, officers located several homemade “draino bombs” that had exploded, and three that had not.  Officers contacted the Bomb Squad, who responded to the scene and rendered the devices safe.  No one was injured and no property was damaged.  Police are investigating.

 

Girl Struck by Pellet at Play in Bay

On 05/19/2014, at 1427 hrs, a resident in the 27000 block of Osborn called Bay Police  to report her 6  year old daughter was struck by a pellet of some sort while they were playing at Play In Bay the evening before.  There was another person who also reported being hit by a pellet while at the park.  Police are investigating, and asking anyone who may have witnessed either of these incidents to contact them at 440-871-1234.

 

Disturbance on Ednil

On 05/16/2014, at 0845 hrs, BVPD responded to an Ednil address on the report of a suspicious male pounding on a residents door looking for his lost German Shepherd puppy.  The male was described as being in his late teens, wearing a gray hoodie (hood pulled up), baggy pants and having a mustache.  Because of the aggressive nature of his banging, and the fact that he disappeared right after pounding on the doors, police are treating the incident as an attempted burglary.  Later in the day, Westlake PD contacted BVPD to advise they were at the scene of a burglary.  The suspect had a similar description, and witnesses reported he was looking for a dog.  Police also believe the same group is responsible for a burglary on Bexley last week.  Police have 3 suspect in the case, and arrests are forthcoming.

 

Boy Locked Out of Home

On 05/24/2014, at 0321 hrs, a resident on Lake Forest Drive called to complain that across the street someone was blowing a car horn, banging a door and yelling. Responding officers found a 16 yoa boy who was attempting to get into his home. The previous evening he had an argument with his parents and left the house. When he eventually returned he found himself locked out. The parents were advised they cannot legally do this. Information was taken for a report and ruling by the Prosecutor.

 

Machine Gun at Malley’s

On 05/25/2014, at 1853 hrs, BVPD officers responded to Malley’s on the report of a motorcycle with an attached side car having a mounted machine gun. They did find a non-functioning, demilitarized Russian machine gun. The operator said he will be in North Olmsted’s Memorial Day Parade. Advised to cover the machine gun so as not to alarm the public and sent on his way.

 

Close Your Garage Door

On 05/20/2014, at 0748 hrs, a resident in the 29000 block of Wolf Rd. reported his son’s bicycle had been stolen from their attached garage sometime overnight.  The owner admitted that he did leave the overhead door open.  While the officer was speaking with the victim, another officer located the bike, undamaged, on Inverness Dr.   The bike was returned to the owner.

 

Driving While Suspended

On 05/22/2014, at 1631 hrs, a BVPD officer stopped a vehicle on Lake Rd. near Porter Creek.  The driver of the vehicle had a suspended driver’s license.  The 34 yoa Sheffield Lake resident was cited and will face charges at RRMC.  His vehicle was towed from the scene.
