Columbia Road Beach is Not a Dog Park

Bay Village Police are reminding visitors to Columbia Road Beach that the park at the north terminus of Columbia Road is not a dog park.

The clarification comes after a dog bite incident which took place there on June 9.

According to Police, “On 06/16/2017, at 12:09 PM, a 911 caller reported while at Columbia Road Beach her dog had been bitten by another dog. Investigating officer found that a Westlake resident’s dog had “gotten off of its leash momentarily” and bit a Bay Village resident’s dog. The injuries were minor. The Westlake resident was issued a citation for Animals at Large.

“It should be noted that there is a misperception out on the internet that Columbia Road Beach is a “Dog Park”. There is actually a Facebook page, which calls itself “Columbia Dog Beach”. People calling dispatch have called it Columbia Dog Park. None of this is correct. It has always been Columbia Road Beach, a city of Bay Village beach, where the public is welcome to bring their dogs. Be advised, however, all ordinances are strictly enforced. All dogs must remain on the leash at all time and you are required to pick up after them.”
