Veterans/Active Military Picnic & Social
An ALL Veterans Picnic and Social will be held on Saturday August 19th from 2 – 6 PM at the American Legion Lodge at 695 Cahoon Rd. The Picnic will be FREE for all vets and their families as well as Active Military or recently discharged or released military and their families. We will have hot dogs and hamburgers, sides dishes, and desserts while supplies last. This is a BYOB event with wash provided.
The Picnic is sponsored jointly by the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9693, American Legion Post 385, and the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 249. In addition, the desserts will be provided jointly by the Gardens of Westlake and O’Neill Healthcare. While the food will be provided, if you wish to share a dish, please feel free to bring it along (recommend disposable containers).
We will have information from these organizations, upcoming veteran events, as well as information and a representative from the Lorain County VA Clinic. We will have some games and raffles and a chance to learn more about all these fine organizations. This is a community event, social event, recruitment event, and veteran information event, all in one.
This will be the first time we do this but it shows the increased level of joint support across our veteran organizations. Hopefully, we can make this an annual event. All organizations are looking for new members and a younger generation to continue our joint community support efforts into the future. You may be a veteran or family member looking for some information about benefits or assistance contacts. Whatever the reason we hope you can stop by! Fred Green, Commander VFW Post 9693
