19th Avon Eagle Runs Draws Hundreds

Top runners take off at Eagle Run 2019.

The 19th Avon Eagle Run held May 25th at Avon High was a huge success, bringing hundreds of runners to the high school to participate in a slate of health runs and races to support the Avon School Educational Endowment Fund, the French Creek Family YMCA and other charities in the community.

Presented by Mercy Health, the family-fun event includes a 5-mile run, 5K run/walk and 1-mile Kids Fun Run, as well as bounce houses, fit course, face painting, balloon artist and food.

Some of the area’s top road racers compete for honors. This year’s top three men were Mark Grogan of Bay Village (26:12) who won for the second year, Aaron Apathy of Westlake (26:33) and Scott Mate of Stow (27:31). Top women were Felicia Pasadyn of Hinckley (29:45), Jackie Range of Baltimore, MD. (29:51) and Amanda Fire of Stow (32:50).

15-year old Evan Holtzmeier won the 5K in 20:15. Hundreds of kids also took part in the one-mile fun run, bringing lots of fun to kick off the Memorial Day weekend!
